If you’re going away for 30 days or longer, and your home will be unoccupied, we wouldn’t be able to cover you.
We’d consider a property to be unoccupied if the home isn’t lived in by you or anyone named on the policy for more than 30 consecutive days. Visits or occasional overnight stays don’t represent a break in this period.
This period starts from the first day the property is unoccupied, even if that’s before the start date of the policy.
If your property is unoccupied and you need to cancel the policy, you can do so by following these steps:
- Log in to the My Account section of our website
- Click “Manage Policy”
- Click “Manage renewal or cancel policy”
With our Select by Urban Jungle Insurance we may be able to cover you if your home will be unoccupied, depending on your circumstances.
We’d consider a property to be unoccupied when the home is unfurnished or not lived in for more than 30 days in a row. Lived in means that normal activities like bathing, cooking and sleeping overnight are carried out at the home at least 2 nights in a row each week.
You can find the full details of the conditions and exclusions that apply to your property being considered unoccupied in your policy document that you can access this through logging into the ‘My account’ section of our website. If you don’t have a policy with us, you can find more information in our sample policy document.
