We sell different types of contents insurance, but it should be really easy to prove you have Tenants Liability Insurance no matter which you have.
Our standard policy
You’re more likely to have this policy if you bought insurance from us after January 2019, but you should still check first. To find out if you have this policy, look for ERGO Versicherung AG, UK Branch which will be listed as your Insurer in the “Schedule of Insurance & Statement of Fact” section.
You can prove you have Tenants Liability Insurance by sending your landlord, letting agent or anyone else who needs to know your full policy document. Your Tenant’s Liability cover level is listed in the “Schedule of Insurance & Statement of Fact” section.
Other types of policy
You’re more likely to have a different type of policy if you bought insurance from us on or before January 2019, or if you live in a house with multiple unrelated occupants.
For policies administered by PaymentShield (this name will be shown on the first page of the policy booklet), if you have added accidental damage cover to your contents policy, then you will have tenants liability insurance included.
To prove this (for example to your letting agent), you should:
- Send your policy certificate which confirms that you have bought cover
- Send the policy document, and point out pages 5 and 24 which provide details of the tenants liability included
For shared house policies underwritten by SureStone (for houses with more than 2 unrelated occupants), Tenants Liability Insurance is cover “F.” under “Section 1: Contents” in the Policy Booklet.
